Kohler Co. is founded in Wisconsin, United States.
John Michael Kohler manufactures the first bathtub.
KOHLER’s debut in the world of art begins when the Kathryn black fixtures series is exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York city. The same inspired tradition of artistry continues to be expressed today in all KOHLER products.
Kohler enters the cabinet industry in North America.
Kohler launches its “Art and Industry” program. Since the introduction of the program Kohler has hosted more than five hundred resident artists from around the world. The arts/industry program is still a key part of Kohler today and represents the inspiration of some of Kohler’s greatest creative achievements.
Kohler enters the Asian Market.
First Kohler cabinet factory is established in Asia
Kohler Design Center opens in Shanghai (China).
KOHLER’s PRO Integrated Kitchen Cabinet series is named Best Product Design by Domus, Italy’s renowned architecture and design magazine. The award served to strengthen Kohler’s creative momentum, leading to the production of more kitchen design masterpieces..
Kohler’s design philosophy is once again recognized when KOHLER’s integrated kitchen cabinet series wins the Trendsetting Design Brand Award by the Kitchen& Bath Power List. In the same year, Kohler’s Karbon kitchen faucet is awarded the International Best Design Award by the renowned Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA).
Inspired by the creative influences of the art world, KOHLER introduces another breakthrough innovation: KOHLER Cabinet Artist Editions, a new product line designed and created with the involvement of famous artists.
